OVERVIEW
“Turning Points”
is a Social Work based private corporation which emphasizes three primary markets of health care delivery: private consultations with individuals & families; contractual Social Work services for agencies, organizations, and small business; and continuing education/training for professionals.
INDIVIDUALS & FAMILIES
“Turning Points”
avoids engaging in third-party reimbursement (insurance) for services rendered to individuals and families whenever possible. However, we recognizes that often this is the only arrangement where clients can access needed services.
Thus, while we welcome clients with private insurance, we continue to focus on two private-pay markets:
1) (potential) clients who for whatever reason(s) are disillusioned, frustrated or even disgusted by their previous experiences with Managed Care and/or Insurance carriers;
2) those people who want or need clinical services, but do not necessarily want to part of the “Mental Health System”.
When clients so chose, we will do everything we can to work with your insurance carrier, however, we believe strongly that there are important considerations when proceeding this way, which as consumers you are entitled to know. Please speak with your therapist during your initial consultation to be fully informed about the issues of having your insurance carrier pay for your mental health services.
Private consultations with individuals and families is the primary focus of this practice.

CONTRACTUAL SOCIAL WORK SERVICES
Beyond private consultations to individuals & families,“Turning Points” also seeks out a range of clinical and/or contractual Social Work services to various health care agencies and organizations throughout the region as well.

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING
Mickey Skidmore, ACSW has been a presenter for the North Carolina AHEC system on several occasions and has been a well-received speaker at a variety of workshops and seminars throughout the Carolinas and Texas.
